  • Drive yourself right up the wall
No one hears and no one calls
    It's a boring state
    It's a useless wait, I know

Brag about things you don't understand
A girl and a woman, a boy and a man
    Everything is sexually vague
    Now you're wondering to yourself
    That you might be gay

Your age is the hardest age
    Everything drags and drags
One day, baby, maybe help you through

Drive your ma to the bank
Tell your pa you got a date
You're lying, now you're lying on your back

Try to figure out, they wonder what next you'll
    You don't understand anything sexual
    I don't understand
Tell my friends I'm doing fine

Your age is the hardest age
    Everything drags and drags
    You're looking funny
    You ain't laughing, are you?
    Sixteen blue
    Sixteen blue
    Sixteen blue

Your age is the hardest age
    Everything drags and drags
    You're looking funny
    You ain't laughing, are you?
    Sixteen blue
    Sixteen blue
    Sixteen blue
    Sixteen blue
    Sixteen blue
    Sixteen blue

  • John from Los AngelesI made a whole playlist called 16 Blue, all about the feeling of being scared to start your life as a grown up. This song got it right. This and Answering Machine go together in my mind.
  • Mister Whirly from MinneapolisI stand corrected. I looked at some live video and indeed it is Paul playing the haunting final solo. My respect for his guitar playing, which has always been underrated, just went up another notch.
  • Andy from Omaha, NeActually, the album credits state that "Paul plays 12-string electric, second lead", so it's Paul playing the solo at the end. The solo is also the same as the album version, it's just a different vocal take. Man, I'm a geek
  • Mister Whirly from Minneapolis, MnThe greatest song ever written about being a teenager. The demo version on the 'Let it Be'has the best Bob guitar work on it ever - to this day his playing at the end of the song never fails to give me goosebumps...
