Songfacts®:

  • The four ABBA members were married to each other during the band's most active years (Agnetha Fältskog and Bjorn Ulvaeus 1971-1980, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson 1978-1981 after living together for several years). As the group became more popular, both couples' personal lives suffered, which eventually caused the collapse of both marriages. But despite their marital difficulties and ABBA's breakup in 1982, the four megastars remained close friends.

The Swedish pop legends released this rousing ode to the quartet's enduring bond as the lead single from their first album in 40 years. In a promotional video, Björn Ulvaeus said: "The first song, 'I Still Have Faith In You,' when Benny played the melody, I knew it just had to be about us. It's about realizing that it's inconceivable to be where we are. No imagination could dream up that - to release a new album after 40 years and still be the best of friends and still be enjoying each other's company and have total loyalty. Who has experienced that? Nobody."
  • Anni-Frid Lyngstad performs the lead vocals on this song, which was released on September 22, 2021 as a dual lead single alongside "Don't Shut Me Down" from Voyage. Agnetha Fältskog does the lead vocal on that one.
  • Abba recorded the song back in 2018 at Andersson's Riksmixningsverket studio in Stockholm along with "Don't Shut Me Down." They planned on just releasing the two songs, but then expanded it into an entire album as a reward to fans waiting for the reunion tour because of technical and COVID-related delays.
  • The song features the Stockholm Concert Orchestra. Andrej Power, who serves as the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra's principal concertmaster, helped with the arrangement.
  • ABBA scored their first Grammy nomination when this song received a nomination for Record of the Year at the 64th Grammy Awards.
