Songfacts®:

  • This song is about a guy whose girlfriend packs up her stuff and leaves, and just how much he misses her. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry wrote the song with Desmond Child, whose knack for coming up with a memorable chorus is often the difference between an album cut and a hit.

The trio had written "Crazy" in the late '80s around the same time they wrote "Angel." The songs were deemed too similar, so while "Angel" made the 1987 Permanent Vacation album, "Crazy" didn't appear until two albums later on Get A Grip. Big ballads were good to Aerosmith, but the group had to ration them in order to retain its status as a hard rock powerhouse.
  • The video was the third and final Aerosmith clip starring Alicia Silverstone ("Cryin'" and "Amazing" were the others), and this time she was joined by Steven Tyler's daughter and Liv Tyler, teaming up as runaway school girls who have the time of their lives on the road. >>>

  • This won a Grammy in 1995 for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. It was Aerosmith's third Grammy - they had previously won the same award for "Janie's Got A Gun" and "Livin' On The Edge," and won it again in 1999 for "Pink." >>>

  • Joe from Los Angeles The falsetto vocal at the end is a homage to the falsetto ending of The Skyliner's - Since I Don't Have You.
  • Homer from Springfield, KyEd:You've obviously never heard Steven Tyler sing. And you've never seen him. Please don't attack someone you know nothing about.
  • Brittney from Orlando, FlED: steven tyler is the best singer in the world and he is mostly deffinitly not ugly! listen to some of his other songs like dream on and u will c. But i LOVE this song its so funny but emotional at the same time
  • Aline from Brasilia, BrazilI totally agree with Gordon. I'm a huge Aerosmith fan and I don't like this song at all. I saw an interview with Alicia Silverstone, e she said that she hated being in this video. Probably she didn't like to share the attention with Liv... but the video is ridiculous...
  • Jason from Southlake, TxIts a good song sad though. Kind of wierd they used teenage girls for the video. They were like in their mid- 40´s. Still it is a great ballad
  • Ed from Incognito, IlYou have to be a singer to sing a ballad. Tyler is just a skinny, beady-eyed ugly guy who can only scream "somewhat" on pitch.
  • Mark from Worcester, MiI recall a Steve Tyler quote of many years ago, paraphrase: "anyone can write a balled. They're simple and easy, and take me 10 minutes." I think he was talking about "You seen me Cry" from Toys in The Attic. The point is that I don't think Tyler puts a ton of emotional effort into this stuff. People should just enjoy it for what it is IMO, and not get worked up.
  • Chris from Copenhagen, Denmarki think this is a great, but very typical Aerosmith power ballad. Also, why do people look for the meaning of a song that has a simple and frank meaning? Anywayzz this is a great song...
  • Jeff from Sothington, CtLiv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone are in other Aerosmith videos too, i know that Alicia Silverstone is in Cryin too
  • Gordon from Lake Havasu City, AzAs big of an Aerosmith fan as I am, the song is totally sappy and corny. I can't say I like it. Ouch......that hurt.
  • Matt from Santa Barbara, CaThey filmed most of the video for this song in and around Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez valley. The part where they sneak out of school is filmed at Santa Barbara Junior High.
