  • This song was written by Cooper and his longtime collaborators Bob Ezrin and Dick Wagner. Ezrin also produced Alice Cooper Goes to Hell, which was Cooper's second album as a solo artist following the breakup of the original Alice Cooper band in 1974. The collection is a concept album that continues the story of a child named Steven, a character that was introduced on Cooper's platinum-selling 1975 album Welcome to My Nightmare.

Following the breakup of the original Alice Cooper band, Wagner became one of the Cooper's key songwriting collaborators. He was best known for the ballads he co-wrote with Cooper, including "You and Me," "Only Women Bleed" and "I Never Cry." In addition to Cooper, some of the other top music acts whose records Wagner has played lead guitar on or written songs for include Aerosmith, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, KISS, Hall & Oates, Etta James and Rod Stewart.
  • Alice Cooper Goes to Hell ushered in a new era for Cooper in which he aimed for a more polished sound in place of the raw, harder-edged rock of his earlier records. Nonetheless, this Metal-tinged title track contains some of the grit and rawness found in his earlier music. All but one of the tracks were penned by Cooper, Ezrin and Wagner.
