Songfacts®:

  • This song opens with the line, "We can't lose touch but we can let go, blue and white gun made from Lego." The lyric is a reference to one of Alt-J frontman Joe Newman's childhood pastimes. He explained to NME: "When I was younger I used to build guns out of Lego and I only used blue and white bricks 'cos they were the best colors."

Another contemporary British songwriter who references Lego is Ed Sheeran. The "A Team" crooner had a hit single with "Lego House," in which he uses the titular toy building as a metaphor for a relationship. He celebrated the news that he'd scored his first #1 with +, by going to Hamley's toyshop and buying a Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon.
