Songfacts®:

  • Bird told Drowned In Sound that in this song he continues the idea in "Oh No" "of another consciousness beneath our skin." He explained: "I wrote this after I got food poisoning in the Rocky Mountains. I was impressed by the body's override function. It knows what must be done. This then connects to groups or swarms of birds, fish or insects that seem to move as one with their own surface tension. Nature's brain."
  • Bird expanded on the inspiration for this song in an interview with Mojo magazine June 2009. He explained that he wrote this song, "when I had terrible food poisoning at 10,000 feet in the Rockies on vacation with my dad. My body decided, 'I don't care what you want, everything's gotta get out.' I was really impressed by its conviction - nothing to do with what I was thinking."
