Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single Ashlee Simpson released that she did not have a part in writing - it's a cover of a song by an unsigned Ohio group called Jaded Era.
  • For Simpson, this song is about finding the strength to deal with the challenges in her life, including when she was caught lip-synching on Saturday Night Live and a disastrous performance at the Orange Bowl. Says Simpson, "It's basically about life, about finding the courage to get back up and keep fighting, which I think everybody deals with every day."
  • The music video is in black and white and shows Simpson boxing. Those scenes were shot in the same set as the highly acclaimed movie Million Dollar Baby, which is about a female boxer overcoming challenges to rise to the top of her profession. Simpson had to train for the boxing scenes.
  • The video was directed by Marc Webb, who also directed Simpson's video for "Boyfriend."
  • "Invisible" was used in the 2007 movie Bratz and is part of the soundtrack.
