• Three days after blink-182 announced the return of guitarist and co-vocalist Tom DeLonge to the band, they released this pop-punk anthem. It marks the first time in a decade that bassist Mark Hoppus, guitarist Tom DeLonge, and drummer Travis Barker had been in the studio together since 2012's Dogs Eating Dogs EP.
• Though Blink titled the song after a sexual practice that people joke about online, "Edging" surprisingly lacks the band's usual racy jokes (bar a flippant lyric about sex in the church). Instead, it finds DeLonge reflecting on twice splitting from the band (he previously left them from 2005 to 2009).
• On the first verse, DeLonge blames his two exits on being cursed with a hardcore punk rock attitude. He prefers to live on the wild side and is uncomfortable with stability.
  
  The chorus finds Tom DeLonge trading vocals with Mark Hoppus. The two admit the guitarist leaving Blink was a mistake as it left fans brokenhearted. They then discuss the possibility of a reunion and decide to go for it.
  
  Hoppus sings the second verse where he looks forward to the pop-punk trio's 2023 worldwide reunion tour.
• We mentioned earlier that Blink named the song after a sexual technique. However, the word "edging" doesn't appear in the lyrics and its connection to the song is unclear. The three band members posted a TikTok where they talk about what the title means to them. "It's an organism," says DeLonge; "Edging is lawn care," added Hoppus; Barker then claims that he and his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, "invented edging."
• Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker wrote "Edging" between them, with Barker manning the production desk. "I wanted to imagine as a listener what I wanted to experience," said the Blink drummer and producer, "and at the same time as a band member what we wanted to make and say and most importantly how it would sound production wise in 2022."
• "Edging" became blink-182's highest-charting single on the Hot 100 in 18 years when it peaked at #61. Back in 2004, "I Miss You" reached #42.
• The Cole Bennett-directed video sees the band playing the song in a run-down carnival surrounded by adults dressed as bunnies. Matters take a dark turn as the Blink trio throw knives at the floppy-eared friends and take them out.
