Songfacts®:

  • Jon Bon Jovi's rock-and-roll romance is the heart of "Legendary," the first single from their album Forever. Married since 1989 to his high school sweetheart Dorothea Hurley, the song is a tribute to their enduring love.

Friday night comes around like a song
"Sweet Caroline," and we all sing along
Got my brown-eyed girl, and she believes in me
    Legendary

"The brown-eyed girl, which of course is a Van Morrison nod, but not in this instance. It's my wife," Jon Bon Jovi explained to Ultimate Classic Rock. "She has been there faithfully throughout this process."
  • This lively track with a touch of pop-country flair is a collaborative effort. Jon Bon Jovi co-wrote and co-produced it with John Shanks, who's been a key partner since Bon Jovi's 2005 album, Have a Nice Day. Shanks has not only produced their music, but also performed with them on tours.

Jon Bon Jovi's longtime songwriting partner Billy Falcon also lent his talents to "Legendary." Falcon has co-written many Bon Jovi classics, including "When We Were Beautiful," "Superman Tonight" and "Because We Can."
  • Released on March 14, 2024, "Legendary" is the lead single from Bon Jovi's 16th studio album, Forever. The accompanying music video, directed by Dano Cerny, takes viewers on a journey from the recording studio to a surreal outer space performance.
  • "Legendary" was chosen as the theme song for the Japanese language drama Blue Moment. The drama is a live-action adaptation of a popular webcomic of the same name.
