Songfacts®:

  • Emerging from the English north western town of Blackpool in 2013 to a thriving British pop-punk scene Boston Manor released their first EP that year titled Here/Now. The band comprises vocalist Henry Cox, lead guitarist Mike Cunniff, rhythm guitarist Ash Wilson, bassist Dan Cunniff and drummer Jordan Pugh.
  • The band is named after a small suburb in London where Henry Cox's friend lives. When he sent Cox a demo called Boston Manor the band all thought it was a cool title and the singer asked him if they could name themselves after it.
  • This is a song from Boston Manor's second album Welcome To The Neighbourhood. It was inspired by a run-in with American cops. Vocalist Henry Cox told Kerrang what happened.

"We were recording in a tiny town next to a lake in New Jersey. It was late and I realized I'd left something in the studio, like a phone charger. I went outside and across the car park to the studio, and all of a sudden the police put me against the wall and asked me what I was doing there. I think they were just throwing their weight around, but you can't think clearly when there's people with guns yelling at you."
