  • Brett Eldredge wrote this song as a reminder to focus on the good in any situation, even when faced with challenges. He released the song on May 22, 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic hoping the tune's uplifting spirit will help fans be optimistic.
  • It's gonna be a good day
I don't know why but it feels like
    Love's comimg my way
And the sun ain't even shining
If the world gonna keep on spinning
Let it keep spinning on my way
    I got a feeling
It's gonna be a good day

Eldredge explained to People that he penned this tune while trying to make his way out of a negative spiral. "I wrote this song when I was searching to find positivity in my life instead of focusing on a day being dark and stormy and your emotions being in a tough spot," he said. "I make the decision to have a good day, even in the darkness, and that awareness gives me a better outlook on life."
  • Eldredge wrote the song during a period in his life when he was trying to change his pessimistic mindset. "I started to feel that negativity in my mind at times," he explained to Billboard. "And I knew I needed to change to waking up and say, 'Even if everything's stacked against me right now, today I choose the day to be a good day and I'm going to put my best foot forward.'"
  • The song came out of Eldredge's first writing session with Sunday Drive producers Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk. "That's the first song we wrote together," he said. "Once we got done, sometimes you walk away from a room hoping you said everything you want to say in a song and I think we really did with that."
  • Brett Eldredge's first session with Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk was a totally different style of writing than he was used to. It took him out of his comfort zone, which Eldredge told The Boot was a good thing. "Daniel was sitting on the floor, cutting out cardboard paper and storyboarding the lyrics we were writing in very strange-looking ways, but it made me think in different ways, and then Ian would hop on one instrument to another, and Daniel would hop on one instrument to another, and I started to feel this kind of new wavelength that I was writing on," he explained.

"And with this song, it was where I was going through my life," he added. "I needed to find that good-feeling song that is more than just a good-feeling song, though - it's an intention."
