Songfacts®:

  • This song combines "electronic and radio-friendly elements," keyboardist Jordan Fish said during a track-by-track interview with Kerrang. He added: "It's about people who are negative influences and how when they leave your life things get much better. It's still got characteristics of some of the bigger songs we've done before."
  • Vocalist Oli Sykes penned the lyrics, so Bruce said he couldn't specify exactly whom the singer is addressing, but he "can think of a few people it might be about."
  • The video comes courtesy of animator Extraweg and features a rubber-like digital cast of Oli Sykes' head. Talking to BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac, the band described the clip as featuring "a cyborg version of Oli getting off with himself."
  • "Medicine" was a staple in Bring Me The Horizon's 2019 setlists, but it seems the song has fallen out of favor with the band. After a steady decline in live performances throughout 2020-2022, the song has been completely retired.

Oli Sykes offered an explanation during their June 24, 2024, concert at Hurricane Festival in Germany. When a fan requested "Medicine," Sykes responded "'Medicine'? Are you guys all right? You're good, you're good, right? You guys would like to hear 'Medicine'? Even I think that song is s--t."
