  • The title of Butcher Babies' Take It Like A Man album comes from a line in this song. Speaking to FeMetal TV's Mercedes Romero, the band's co-frontwoman Carla Harvey explained the song was "a very powerful" one for her and Heidi Shepherd to write, "because we spoke about the way that we were raised in that song."

    She added: "One of the lyrics in that song is, 'Where were you when I learned to take it like a man? Where were you when I learned to stand?' It was just a standout lyric and we thought that… We kept thinking about it and it just kept coming back into our heads."
  • Heidi Shepherd said the album title is more of a phrase of fighting for your life than gender-based. She explained: "It talks about the exact moment in my life where I had to learn how to fight and take it like a man and stand for myself. And that moment in my life, I think, defined who I am today. These moments in our lives defined the women that we are and then becoming an independent, powerful - if you will - woman."

    "And as Carla stated, it's something that lot of people will learn, a lot of people will go through in their lives. And it's more just a term of fighting — fighting for yourself, fighting for your life."
