Songfacts®:

  • "Blessings" is a summer banger from Calvin Harris with vocals from UK singer Clementine Douglas. The bright piano chords, shimmering synths, and sun-soaked energy channel classic Calvin Harris summer anthems such as "How Deep Is Your Love," "Miracle" and, of course, "Summer." You can almost feel the SPF 30 kicking in.
  • Douglas' lyrics are a gracious kiss-off to an ex who wasn't exactly a pillar of emotional support - more quicksand than solid ground - but to whom she nonetheless offers her "blessings."
  • Dance singer-songwriter Clementine Douglas a frequent collaborator with Australian DJ Sonny Fodera, lending her vocals to bangers like "Asking" and "Tell Me," and co-writing the BRIT-nominated "Somedays." She's also popped up on tracks by Chase & Status ("Mixed Emotions") and Joel Corry ("History").
  • When Calvin Harris asked Clementine Douglas to sing on his track "Blessings," she initially dismissed it as a hoax. "It was mad because he just messaged me on Instagram out of nowhere. I wasn't expecting it," she told BANG Showbiz. "I just saw the message pop up and I couldn't read it for a few hours because I was like, 'Oh my God, what's it going to say?' And then when I read it, I was just like, 'Yeah!' Then he sent me the track and I wrote it in a couple of days."
