Songfacts®:

  • This is a track from Rest, an album that was primarily produced by French electronic musician SebastiAn. The song features and was co-written by Paul McCartney.
  • Charlotte Gainsbourg kept McCartney's demo in her back pocket for six years before she recorded the track. She told Uncut the story of the song:

"I asked if we could meet, he graciously said he would have lunch with me, so I went to London. I said, 'If by any chance you had a song you wouldn't like for yourself, I would love to have it.' Two weeks later he sent me this demo.

I kept it in a drawer until I was working with SebastiAn. I showed him the demo and asked if we could make it a part of this record. We had to change the sound and style of it for it to fit in, then he sent that new demo to Paul and asked if he would come to New York, I'll we would go to London, to play on a session. He said yes again! He was in New York, so we met at Electric Lady: he recorded bass and some piano. It was just wonderful!"
