Songfacts®:

  • Colt Ford teams up with Michael Ray on this celebration of the hard-working, fun-living folks with necks as red as the Texaco star and collars as blue as the light at the bar. It's not for everyone, but they love the hell out of it.

"'Hell Out Of It' is an anthem for the small town, blue collar men and women - the ones that work hard and play harder," Michael Ray said. "It's about that slice of heaven; a map dot place that to some people, might not look like much, but is raised in them - love the hell out of it."
  • Released in February 2025, "Hell Out Of It" was Colt Ford's first song since a heart attack that nearly killed him 10 months earlier. After performing in Arizona, Ford collapsed on his tour bus, where his bass player found him. Rushed to the hospital, he underwent a 10-hour surgery and was in a coma for eight days. He was very lucky to make it out alive, and when he did, it prompted him to eat better and adopt a healthier lifestyle. Cutting back on Mountain Dew and trips to Waffle House, he slimmed down considerably.
  • Colt Ford writes a lot of his own songs and has written some popular tunes for others as well, including "Dirt Road Anthem" by Jason Aldean. "Hell Out Of It" he didn't write. It was composed by the Nashville writers Cole Taylor, Michael Tyler, Thomas Archer and Lalo Guzman. Taylor's credits include "You, Me and Whiskey" by Justin Moore and "Home Alone Tonight" by Luke Bryan; Tyler had a hand in "Girl Like You" by Jason Aldean and "Holy Smokes" by Bailey Zimmerman. Archer co-wrote the Luke Combs' songs "Lovin' On You" and "Hurricane". Guzman is a relative newcomer; he worked on "Ain't Enough Cowboy" by Jason Aldean.

"I loved this song the moment I heard it," Ford said. "After everything I've been through, it really resonates."
  • The track was produced by Dylan Maloney, who has done mixing work for Colt Ford in the past.
