Songfacts®:

  • "Digital Love" is an innocent portrayal of unresolved love and romantic longing, prominently featuring a sample from George Duke's "I Love You More," which is similarly a love song. The melody of the sample forms the basis of the track's main theme, and like many of Daft Punk's samples, it is fit to a House beat. According to Chilly Gonzales, the unresolving chord progression does well to replicate the song's lyrical theme. This can also be seen in the song structure, which is almost entirely through composed, in that there is no return to the verse or chorus-type sections, again unresolved. Finally, this theme is directly portrayed in the music video, which, like the rest of Discovery, features an episode from the Daft Punk film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.
  • This song is sampled in the French producer Uppermost's "Flow," which also samples Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You" (a brief side project of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter).
