Songfacts®:

  • "Same Beer Different Problem" is a jaunty uptempo song that offers a lighthearted take on the chaos of today's world. Among the modern-day progress and problems that Rucker catalogs are:

Driverless cars yet traffic's getting worse
Mom's spending her time online leaving granny with just gummies to eat
People don't compete anymore; instead everyone gets a trophy
  • So what is Rucker's solution?

Maybe the answer's down at the bottom
Of a cool libation and some friendly conversation
Tonight with some brand new friends

Rucker suggests a time-honored discussion with some pals over a few cold ones is the best way of dealing with life's challenges. "If we just sit down and have a beer and talk about things, we could probably work on every problem in the world," he said, "but instead we just argue and hate and do all that stuff."
  • All I know for sure is we've all lost our minds
A little bit funny, a lotta bit strange

Rucker wrote "Same Beer Different Problem" with Sarah Buxton (Keith Urban's "Put You In a Song"), Tofer Brown (Jon Pardi's "Night Shift") and Old Dominion's Brad Tursi. "The line 'a little bit funny, a lotta bit strange' really sums up the message of this song and all of the things that make you shake your head these days," reflected Rucker. "We had so much fun as songwriters coming up with all of those examples and putting a lighthearted spin on the craziness of the world."
  • Ross Copperman produced the track. He also sang the backing vocals with Tofer Brown and played keyboards along with Jeff Roach. The rest of the instrumentation is by:

    Electric guitar: Kenny Greenberg
    Acoustic guitar: Kris Donegan
    Bass: Tony Lucido
    Pedal steel: Dan Dugmore
