  • Bentley told AOL that he considers this to be a really fun song. He explained: "I learned a lot from the record before with 'Free and Easy' - sometimes it doesn't take your most creative work to make a hit. Not to slight that song, but a lot of times I write songs that are really massive and have these choruses that could mean so many different things to so many different people, like 'Long Trip Alone.' And I learned on 'Free and Easy' that it is alright to put a song out there that people love and have fun listening to in their car." Bentley added that he wrote this tune, "on an airplane on the way to a gig and finished it with a friend of mine back in Nashville. Its just great to have a song out there that people can listen to and get away from their troubles a little bit and have fun."
  • The music video was directed by Michael Salomon (Metallica, Toby Keith), and features Bentley singing in front of a large party crowd. Bentley blogged on his MySpace about the clip: "'Sideways' is all about cutting loose and having a good time, and this is the most fun I've ever had making a video. The fans brought killer energy to the set. The choreographer and dancers were amazing and so talented. I was totally unaware that break dancing to a country song was even remotely possible until this video shoot! It was a total blast. This was such a fun song to write, and I hope it's one our fans will be cranking their stereos up to 11 to all summer long."
  • This was Bentley's seventh #1 on the country chart.
  • In 2011, Fox Sports used this song in coverage of their NASCAR races. Bentley is a huge racing fan, and even narrated a DVD biography of the driver Kasey Kahne.

  • Camille from Toronto, OhI'm not a huge Dierks Bentley fan, but I like this song. The chorus is very catchy. Of course, the hook to the song is that the first line sung is the last line as well.
  • Sherry from Las Cruces, NmI love this song and video. I grew up in the 80's with all the great dancing videos. When I watch this video I want to sign up for dance lessions and do what they're doing. The dancers rock and the hip hop style blended with the cow roping thing is very original. Two thumbs up. If it doesn't get you dancing you are a dead beat!
