Songfacts®:

  • Seandrea Sledge is a Chicago rapper and singer who records under the name of Dreezy. She first drew attention with her remix of Nicki Minaj and Lil Herb's "Chiraq," which earned her a collaboration with Common on his Nobody's Smiling album.

Dreezy signed a recording contract with Interscope Records in December 2014. This upbeat club anthem was her first Hot 100 hit.
  • The song is about finding someone to dance with at a club and then having sex with them afterwards. It features a beat by California producer Blood, who is best known for co-producing Justin Bieber's "Sorry."

Speaking in a radio interview, Dreezy said: "It's got that LA vibe. It's fun but it's still sexy. It's still me. I like it because it's a hard song—it's called 'catch a body' but it's on a sexy, soft beat. It's the best of both worlds."
  • The song features Dreezy's fellow Chicago artist Jeremih, whose verse talks about sex using gun metaphors. This is linked to the "catch a body" phrase on the chorus, a term which Dreezy uses to express finding a guy to dance with. "Catch a body" is more usually used as slang for killing someone or having someone killed.
