Songfacts®:

  • Liverpool drill rapper Hazey first caught the attention of British rap fans with "Lone Ranger," a track from Hardest U18s Cypher 2021, a compilation featuring up-and-coming UK rhymers. Hazey's freestyle verse went viral on TikTok after the record was released on Christmas Day 2021.

The Scouse teenager caught the attention of Columbia Records, who signed Hazey and released "Packs And Potions" as his debut single on January 14, 2022. The song is essentially the full version of his viral verse from "Lone Ranger."
  • The song starts off with Hazey rhyming about preparing drugs for sale.

Gotta mix these packs and potions
No P's 'til I put a SIM in a burner

He makes his money ("P" is British pounds) by contacting his customers with an untraceable cell phone.
  • Hazey continues to discuss hustling and grinding with references to several footballers. They include:

Them olders are washed like Sami Khedira
And they should start calling me uncle

German central midfielder Sami Khedira retired at the end of the 2020–21 season. Hazey sees the former player as washed" (past his best times).

And when they need more, I'm right back like I'm Trent
I get 'round, I don't sit on the bench

Liverpool FC's Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the best right-backs in the world game. Hazey boasts that in the drug game, he is as reliable as Trent is on the football pitch.

Stay on the ball like Agüero
I might slide Milan like I'm Pirlo

Hazey compares himself to Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero, one of the greatest forwards of the 2010s, and also to A.C. Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who was famed for his passing in the 2000s.

I serve nits in twos like I'm Walker
Tell bro I don't do no talker

Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker wears the number 2 shirt. Hazey plays on his shirt number to explain that he sells drugs to "nits" (UK slang for addicts) in pairs of twos.
  • Hazey spits his rhymes over Sphero Beatz's Brazilian funk beat in his distinct Scouse accent. It is the same beat the London producer created for "Lone Ranger."
  • Hazey dropped a remix featuring M1llionz, Digga D, and Unknown T on February 4, 2022.
