Songfacts®:

  • This soulful track finds Hozier focusing on the poetry of human movement as he is drawn to the way his love interest carries herself

    You're less Polunin leapin'
    Or Fred Astaire in sequins
Honey, you, you're Atlas in his sleepin'
And when you move, I'm moved

Rather than the balletic movements of Ukrainian performance artist Sergei Polunin or American dancer Fred Astaire, Hozier compares his lover to Atlas. According to Greek mythology, Atlas was condemned for his part in the war of the Titans to hold the universe on his back for eternity.
  • Hozier wrote the track himself. He co-produced it alongside Markus Dravs, who has also worked with Arcade Fire, Bjork and Mumford & Sons.
  • The choreographed video stars Sergei Polunin, who was featured in Steven Cantor's 2016 documentary Dancer, performing to Hozier's hit "Take Me to Church." Hozier said that the Ukrainian's dancing to his song "gave rise to ideas" for "Movement."
