Songfacts®:

  • The first single from Information Society's third album, "Think" was written by their keyboard player/percussionist Paul Robb. It finds the singer asking a former love to remember the times they shared, and to know that "all my dreams were dreams of you."

In a Songfacts interview with Robb, he said, "'Think' is an example of a song that was an attempt to combine experiences of mass media and how it affects our feelings and our ability to communicate with each other - and even what we communicate with each other - and then overlay that with a relationship narrative. So as with a lot of our songs, it's kind of a backward-looking theme. Pretty nostalgic, but expressed with - at the time - futuristic narrative accoutrement."
  • The song did well on MTV thanks to a futuristic video directed by Pete Hewitt. Thanks to their hit show Club MTV, the network was big on Information Society, and put them on tour with Paula Abdul, Milli Vanilli and Lisa Lisa. The group's freestyle sound soon fell out of fashion, and "Think" was their last imprint on the Hot 100.
  • The song samples bits of "Think (About It)" by Lyn Collins and "N.T." by Kool & the Gang.
