Songfacts®:

  • This R&B-leaning song is a throwback to the vinyl era, complete with the sound of a needle popping at the beginning of the track. Aldean grew up listening to the vinyl LPs his father had, and he wanted to bring in some of those retro influences onto this song. He told The Boot: "I love the fact that everything's coming out on vinyl now. CDs and streaming and all that sounds really clean, but I still like that little dirtiness of the old vinyl."
  • Aldean told Apple Music the song's retro R&B sound makes him feel "like I'm in an eighth-grade dance, listening to Boyz II Men."
  • The song contains Jason Aldean's favorite lyric on 9.

    When I got what I got, I don't miss what I had
The old me before you belongs to the past

Aldean explained to Radio.com he is saying, "Do you ever wish you had anything else, relationship wise, do you ever wish you had this versus that, and you're basically just saying when I got what I got - no, I don't want anything else."
  • Director Shaun Silva filmed the video during the coronavirus lockdown at the Aldeans' beach home in Destin, Florida. The clip mixes home footage of the singer's family with tender shots of Jason and Brittany Aldean on the Florida coast.
  • Thomas Archer, Alexander Palmer and Michael Tyler wrote the song. Aldean told Radio.com's Rob & Holly during their Friday Night Takeover that the first time he heard it was when he was coming off 2018's "You Make It Easy." He said that single had been a different sound for him, but it did really well. "This song kind of reminded me a little bit of that," Aldean added. "It was something that was kind of like that that we didn't have for that album."

Though Aldean didn't write the song, he felt like the lyrics were tailor made for him. "I felt like that song described everything in my life right now to a 'T,'" he said. "When you hear those songs, it just has a different way of grabbing you and I fell in love with it immediately."
