Songfacts®:

  • "Your Mama" is a sweetly sentimental song where Jason Aldean tells his little son, Memphis, how blessed both of them are to have his mom.
  • Jason Aldean shares two children with his second wife Brittany Aldean: son Memphis and daughter Navy. He also has two older daughters from his first marriage. The tender tune is not something Aldean would normally record but he wanted to show a side of himself he's not used to sharing with fans. "That song is probably the most personal song I've ever put on an album," he admitted. "Normally I would never cut a song like that but that particular song was - I cut it more for my son."
  • Troy Verges, Ben West, Josh Miller and Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard wrote "Your Mama." Aldean had the song for a few years, undecided whether to record it. The first time he played it to his wife Brittany, she started crying. Then he played it for his mom and she started bawling. Aldean thought as it was hitting such a nerve with the mamas, maybe he should lay it down.
  • Aldean recorded "Your Mama" for Georgia, a companion album to his 2021 record Macon. While Macon finds the country star drawing on some of his hometown influences, Georgia broadens the scope to take inspiration from some of his state's musical icons.
