  • "Swipe Up" is one of the most metal songs you'll ever hear about using an iPhone. All that scrolling can put you under a "cyber spell," making you feel like you're in control when really you're just being manipulated.
  • This is a track from Three Sides Of One, the first King's X album since XV 14 years earlier. The band toured during this time, but didn't record new music. When they got together and started the sessions in 2019, they fell right back into place, with the three members - Doug Pinnick, Jerry Gaskill and Ty Tabor - easily finding inspiration.

In a Songfacts track by track, Pinnick explained how "Swipe Up" came together: "I was really listening to Meshuggah a lot, and came up with the whole song. I thought, 'This might be too much for King's X.' But I played it for the guys. I had the drum machine going like crazy, and Jerry just looked at me and said, 'You want me to do THAT?!' After some conversation, we just said, 'Jerry, you just plow through it like you would do it normally and put 'Jerry' on it.' And when he did, the song turned into a totally different song, and it was King's X and we got excited. That's a fun song, too."
