  • Kylie Minogue parted ways in January 2013 with her manager, Terry Blamey, whom she had worked with since the start of her musical beginnings. The following month, she was signed to Roc Nation for a management deal. The Australian spent the rest of the year working on her 12th studio album. This euphoric dance-floor banger was announced as the first single from the project in January 2014. Kylie said: "2013 was a year of big change, planning and preparation for me and I'm so excited that 2014 is finally here so I can share this new music. 'Into The Blue' is really special to me as it encapsulates a lot of what I've been feeling - I can't wait for it to be out there."
  • The song was penned by Los Angeles songwriter Kelly Sheehan, who is signed to Dr. Luke's production company. The Los Angeles songwriter's other credits include Karmin's "Crash Your Party," Nicki Minaj's "Young Forever" and Rita Ora's "How We Do (Party)." Sheehan is also known as "Madame Buttons", having worked as the engineer on music for Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Ciara and Nelly amongst others.
  • The Dawn Shadforth-directed video was filmed in London in January 2014 and features Clément Sibony as Kylie's love interest. The French actor is best known for his roles in The Tourist and He Loves Me Not.
  • The song is about moving on from a breakup and finds Kylie asserting that it's OK not to be in a relationship. "I didn't write the lyrics but amazingly they just fit my life at the moment," the Australian singer told the Daily Mail's Weekend magazine. "I was still in a relationship when I recorded it, so it must be destiny because the song's coming to life more with my current frame of mind."
