Songfacts®:

  • This had a surprisingly slow climb up the UK charts, only reaching the Top 20 in its eighth week.
  • "Wow" was written by Kylie, Karen Poole and Greg Kurstin (who also produced the track). Karen Poole is the daughter of former Tremeloes front man Brian Poole. She formed the duo Alisha's Attic, together with her younger sister Shelley, and they enjoyed 5 UK Top 20 hits between 1997 and 2001. Poole then branched out into song-writing, contributing "Red Blooded Woman" and "Chocolate," both UK Top 10 hits for Kylie. She also co-wrote the Shapeshifters' #1 dance smash "Lola's Theme" and the Sugababes UK Top 10 hit "Caught in a Moment."
  • "Wow" was one of the last tracks recorded for the X album, having been put on tape on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza in the late summer of 2007.
  • This was released as a single just over 20 years after Kylie's very first British single release "I Should Be So Lucky" reached the top of the UK chart.
  • This peaked at #5 in the UK. It achieved a higher chart position than "Wow" songs by Kate Bush, The Stylistics, Lil Bow Wow, Blackstreet, Prince, Mike Posner and Beck.
