Songfacts®:

  • Look Up Child contains several tracks on which Lauren Daigle offers support to other believers; there are songs about comfort ("Your Wings"), and contentment ("Everything"). "Rescue" is a song about reassurance and hope sung from the perspective of God.

I will send out an army to find you
In the middle of the darkest night
It's true, I will rescue you

Daigle told Billboard that "Rescue" is the most personal song on the album, explaining, "It was written for someone very close to me who was going through a difficult time. I wanted something that would comfort them in their time of need. That's the purpose of the song, to give hope to people who feel lost...the landscape is synonymous to the depth of healing that can take place where you feel void or empty. When hope arrives in such an expansive way it can rescue you."
  • The song was featured on the seventh episode of Grey's Anatomy's 15th season, which premiered on November 8, 2018.
  • The music video was directed by John Gray and was filmed over two days on the Knik Glacier in Alaska. Gray explained that the visual remoteness was intended to symbolize "a simplicity and beauty that transforms as the song progresses."
  • Lauren Daigle also released a Spanish-language version of the song titled "Rescate" for her Latin American fans.

  • Tiffany from Upstate New YorkThis song is so powerful. It brings tears Everytime. To think that God loves you that much! Wow! He loves you so much that He is sending out an army to rescue you! All I can think of is when an Amber alert goes out and all the search dogs are out sniffing for that lost person and all the cops and friends and neighbors are looking for that one person. Imagine God is doing all that for you. He will rescue you! His love for me just became real.
