Songfacts®:

  • "Wait" is a moody, upbeat ballad, which finds singer Adam Levine trying to salvage a failing relationship.

Wait, can you turn around, can you turn around?
Just wait, can we work this out, can we work this out?
Just wait, can you call me please?
Cause I wanna be with you

Levine knows he's been a bad boyfriend, but he still loves the girl. He pleads with her to stay and hear him out rather than walking out on him.
  • Adam Levine wrote the song with songwriters John Ryan, Jacob Kasher and Ammar Malik. Other collaborations between the quartet include Maroon 5's hit single "Don't Wanna Know."
  • Two music videos were released. The first one was a low budget homemade visual treatment by Levine featuring him performing the song through a seemingly endless variety of Snapchat filters in a range of locations. The singer's wife, Behati Prinsloo, also makes a brief cameo in the clip.

The second Dave Meyers-directed video stars features Levine and actress Alexandra Daddario (Baywatch, San Andreas) dealing with a series of surreal scenarios while they work through their relationship.
