Songfacts®:

  • "Going Bad" is the third collaboration between Meek Mill and Drake, following Meek's 2012 track "Amen" and 2015 cut "R.I.C.O.." It was the latter song which sparked an ugly beef between the pair after the Philadelphia rapper accused the Toronto MC of using a ghostwriter. Their feud played out over numerous diss tracks until the pair officially reconciled on September 8, 2018, when Drake brought Meek on stage during the Boston show of his Three Amigos Tour.
  • This song finds Drake and Meek trading rhymes in which they boast about their wealth and discuss "Going Bad" on women and their enemies. The Philly rapper even directly references Drake's 2015 blistering diss freestyle "Back to Back," which is widely considered as the point where the 6 God won the beef.

I could fit like 80 racks in my Amiris
Me and Drizzy back-to-back, it's gettin' scary

"Going Bad" represents the final burying of the hatchet following the rappers' feud.
  • Meek Mill's team went down to the wire before being able to finalize this song. Drake's vocals came in on the Tuesday before the Thursday of Championship's release.
  • The song's music video was directed by Kid Art, who was also responsible for Meek's "Dangerous" clip. The visual channels classic mob films and includes a scene where the two rappers clad in their finest suits, place a huge bet on a horse race. There is also a dramatic car crash between the two Rolls Royce phantoms driven by Meek and Drake, which presumably is a metaphor for their longstanding beef.

This being a rap video, there are numerous cameos, this time from the likes of Swizz Beatz, Nipsey Hussle, T.I., Mustard, J Prince, Jas Prince, PnB Rock, Shy Glizzy, and the Dreamchasers.
