Die Dead Enough

Album: The System Has Failed (2004)

Songfacts®:

  • This was the lead single from Megadeth's tenth album, The System Has Failed. Frontman Dave Mustaine was the only permanent band member at this stage. He was joined by session players: guitarist Chris Poland, bassist Jimmie Lee Sloas and drummer Vinnie Colaiuta. (Former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland only provided lead guitar parts and solos on a contractual basis and hadn't officially rejoined the band.) The System Has Failed was originally intended to be Mustaine's solo debut, but the record was re-branded with the Megadeth name as a result of contractual obligations owed to the singer's publishing company.
  • The song's music video was directed by Thomas Mignone, who had previously worked with Slipknot, Sepultura and Life Of Agony. The clip featured just Dave Mustaine without his session-playing bandmates.
  • "Die Dead Enough" was originally supposed to be featured in the movie Saw, but it was not used for undisclosed reasons. >>
