Songfacts®:

  • Matthew and Gunnar Nelson didn't have a specific girl in mind when they wrote this affirmation of love, but Gunnar believes that he was writing it for someone he hadn't yet met, and that person turned out to be his wife Lila, who he married in 2014. When she was in high school, Lila had a poster of Nelson on her bedroom wall.
  • The Nelson twins were just out of their teen years when they wrote this song, so they hadn't yet experienced the kind of love they were singing about. They got some from an experienced songwriter/producer named Marc Tanner, who was enlisted by Geffen Records to work with the guys on their debut album After the Rain.
  • This was the third Nelson single, following "(Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection" and "After the Rain." A performance video was made for the track, which got decent airplay on MTV.
