Songfacts®:

  • This is the second single by Australian drum and bass band Pendulum, from their third studio album, Immersion, which was released in May 2010. The single also includes a drumstep mix by vocalists Rob Swire. There are also other remixes by drum and bass DJs and producers John B and Netsky plus one by house DJ and producer Chuckie.
  • The song was a live favorite but was only recorded two days before the album's deadline, and almost didn't make it onto the record. Frontman Rob Swire explained to The Sun: "We had the main riff and our manager said 'that's the second single.' But there was no vocal or melody. We had procrastinated and left it until the last moment. But when he said that, it made us rise to the occasion and think 'OK, if this is the second single - let's f---ing nail it…"
  • Bassist Gareth McGrillen told Noisecreep how the fans played A&R on "Witchcraft:" "The song had 16 different versions," he explained. "Eventually, we tested it out by DJing it before recording it, so we were getting the vibe for it. The version that worked best was the version we ended up with. Once we got a great response from the crowd, we rewrote the lyrics and melodies. It is one of my favorites!"
