Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Pusha making a ferocious claim to the rap throne. The beat was initially credited to the actor Joaquin Phoenix along with My Name Is My Name executive producer, Kanye West. A few days after the publication of the tracklisting, Phoenix explained that it was actually his friend, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich's son who made the beat, and all he did was pass it along to Kanye West"s camp.

Joaquin Phoenix received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of Johnny Cash in the 2005 movie, Walk The Line. The actor unexpectedly announced in late 2008 that he had retired from thespian pursuits to pursue a rapping career. A couple of years later Phoenix appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman and revealed that his "retirement" announcement was for a mockumentary, I'm Still Here (2010), which he and Casey Affleck were filming.
