  • According to Q magazine April 2008, this is about a crisis point in Thom Yorke's life. The singer's troubles were partly caused by the baggage of past relationships and coincided with an incident when Yorke was strolling on a beach, looked back, and spotted an apparition in his house.
  • In the Sophie Muller-directed video, Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood perform the song in a parking garage. Muller is known for working with the Eurythmics, No Doubt, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sade and Garbage.

  • Roj from IrelandA comment on Youtube from '@SuperiFox': In a magazine, fans were asked to interpret the lyrics, and Thom himself rated their interpretations. This one was rated 11/10 by Thom.
"The song is about the merging of life and death and getting past your mistakes. Yorke questions what comes in the afterlife. The waterfall represents moving on to the next world, and when he sees the light he thinks he may have seen death. but then he realizes there is a future and that he wants to live life to the fullest."
