Songfacts®:

  • This pulsing and heavy rocker finds Red vocalist Michael Barnes hitting bottom after enduring a barrage of hate and a number of trials. Though everything has turned to ash, he refuses to give up and rises through the backlash and brimstone to the other side.

    We are fighting to survive
    I'll never break
    From? the ashes we ignite
    Don't fade away
    We live, we die
    We fall, we rise

Red bassist Randy Armstrong explained that "From The Ashes" is a reflection on where our minds can go when we've reached the lowest point. "You've been written off, left out in the cold because the world doesn't care about your situation and nothing in the past matters much today," he said. "It's about having the motivation to rise and turn your failure and mistakes into success and survival."
