Songfacts®:

  • "1,2, 3," is a fun song about an encounter with a guy that leads to love. The upbeat track contains English and Spanish lyrics and blends Latin, pop and urban vibes.
  • Mexican singer-songwriter Sofia Reyes originally wrote "1, 2, 3" in Spanish with her best friend Nicole Zignago back in 2016. They then came up with different English and Spanglish versions. Reyes' manager, Charlie Guerrero, who was part of the session as well, suggested getting Jason Derulo on the song. He played it to the American pop star, who agreed to cut some vocals. Then they decided they needed some rapping to add strength to the track, and Puerto Rican rapper De La Ghetto agreed to jump on it.
  • The rhythmic track features production from JontheProducer (Camilo & Pedro Capo's "Tutu," Kali Uchis & Rico Nasty's "¡aquí yo mando!") and Ricky Montaner (Lali's "Sin Querer Queriendo," Akon's "Como No").
  • Sofia Reyes released "1, 2, 3" as a single on February 16, 2018. It became her breakthrough hit, charting worldwide and topping the charts in Bolivia and Romania.
  • Four years after its release, "1,2, 3" went viral on TikTok. Users added videos to accompany the lyrics:
