Songfacts®:

  • On the album this is listed as "I Decided Part 1." In the US the single release reached #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play and Hot Single Sales charts. In Europe the single version, which is a re-mix by the British dance production team The Freemasons is "I Decided Part 2."
  • This samples the hand-claps from The Supremes 1964 song "Where Did Our Love Go."
  • Solange explained to The Daily Mail August 7, 2008 the album's unusual title: "Hadley Street is a plot of land in downtown Houston. My father took me there one day and told me he was going to build a studio. It was a rough part of town, full of desolate housing lots and drug problems, but it's now one of the most developed parts of the city. The title is a tribute to his vision. He had a plan and he saw it through. That was a real eye-opener for me. It inspired me to dig out my old Marvin Gaye albums and start writing songs."
