  • Sophia Grace Brownlee first came to the public attention when at the age of eight, she performed Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" on the Ellen show with the help of her five-year-old cousin Rosie. Their performance went viral on YouTube, accumulating over 80 million views. The two girls became recurring cast members on the show, hosting their own segment, called Tea Time with Sophia Grace & Rosie. The preteen pair became correspondents, doing celebrity reports from the red carpet and also starred in a full-length movie, Sophia Grace & Rosie's Royal Adventure. This song about having fun with your friends was released as Sophia's second solo single and became her first Hot 100 hit.
  • Sophia told Billboard magazine how the song came together. "We received a demo called 'Best Friends,' and my dad and I loved it," she said. "I was so excited to go into the studio and put my vocals on it."

"My dad wrote a rap verse and I added that into the song," Sophia added. "I love the message in the song and I think it's a great jam for all girls to dance and sing along to."
