Songfacts®:

  • This song is about breaking free from worries and just focusing on having fun and celebrating life.
  • The song's English title "Lalalala" refers to the key sentence of the song, but its Korean name is pronounced like "rock." The Korean title refers to the Chinese character that means "pleasure."
  • "Lalalala" was written by 3Racha - an in-house production team of Stray Kids members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han - and co-composed with Versachoi, Kevin Gomringer and Tim Gomringer from Cubeatz, and Luis Bacque in November 2022.
  • "Lalalala" was slated for Stray Kids' third full-length album, 5-Star, but during the recording session the group felt the song should be a lead single. After making some modifications to the song to make it more title track-like, they recorded it for their eighth Korean-language EP, Rock-Star, and released it as its lead single.
  • The song debuted at #90 on the Billboard Hot 100, Stray Kids' first entry on the chart. In doing so, they became the second-ever K-Pop boyband to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, following BTS. This milestone came just a day after Stray Kids topped the Billboard 200 albums chart for the fourth time with Rock-Star. They previously led with Oddinary in March 2022, Maxident in October 2022, and 5-Star in June 2023.

Stray Kids were the first act to debut their first four chart entries atop the Billboard 200 since Alicia Keys in 2001-07.
