  • Frontman Neil Hannon explained to the BBC that this song was recorded as a voice memo on his phone with strings added afterwards. "I was in a hotel in London and I came up with those words, so I sang it into my phone and thought no more about it," he recalled. "When I listened back to it, I really liked the quality of the vocal. It was reasonably in tune, and I thought, 'Wouldn't it be funny to have that with a string orchestra coming in underneath?'"

"There's bit at the end where I just stop and go "blah, blah, blah", and that's simply because I had no more words written," he added. "Nowhere else to go!"
