• Three Days Grace formed in 1992 but was originally called Groundswell. In 1995, the band met Canadian superproducer Gavin Brown and recorded a demo with him. Brown showed the demo to his contacts at EMI Music Canada and the band was soon signed to Jive Records.
• After the release of his band's debut album, Three Days Grace singer Adam Gontier developed an addiction to the painkiller OxyContin. The band stopped touring so that Gontier could get clean. He successfully completed rehab and Three Days Grace quickly got to work on their second album.
• Although Three Days Grace is originally from Norwood, Ontario, Canada, many of their fans don't know that they've been based in San Diego for most of their professional career.
• Three Days Grace singer Adam Gontier has several meaningful tattoos. Across his knuckles, he has the letters G-R-A-C-E in the same font used on Jeff Buckley's Grace album. He also has a tattoo dedicated to his grandmother on his left arm, a tribal tattoo on his upper right arm, and a butterfly on his right wrist.
• Three Days Grace drummer Neil Sanderson became interested in music at a very young age. He began playing piano before starting elementary school and grew up obsessed with playing drums. He was also the drummer for Thousand Foot Krutch – another prominent Canadian band – from 1996 to 1997.
• The members of Three Days Grace admit that they are heavily influenced by Seattle grunge from the 90's, especially bands like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Soundgarden. In their DVD Live At The Palace, the band pays tribute to their heroes by throwing in covers of "Rooster" by Alice in Chains and "Hey Man Nice Shot" by Filter.
• Adam Gontier and Neil Sanderson first crossed paths as ninth graders in the small rural town of Norwood, Ontario. "As soon as I heard him open his mouth and sing, I was like, I want to be in a band with that guy," Sanderson remembered to Billboard.
