Songfacts®:

  • This song speaks of the frustration of never being satisfied, always chasing something and not being able to stop to experience the moment. Guitarist Barry Stock explained to Artist Direct: "I think it's pretty much about trying to find your place. Often, we'll ask ourselves, 'Where do I fit in here?' I find the song has a lot to do with that. It's that sentiment of, 'I feel like I'm running the rat race sometimes. Where is my place?' I think we all have that inner confusion, 'Where am I going? What am I doing?'"
  • Drummer Neil Sanderson added: "We all get caught in this rat race where we're moving at warp speed towards something and chasing something, waking up making plans. John Lennon said, 'Life is what happens when you're busy making plans.' Where are we going? What are we in a rush for? What's the point of chasing something without stopping to experience the moment. 'Human Race' definitely talks about that." >>>
