Songfacts®:

  • Tove Lo explained to Apple Music that "Are U Gonna Tell Her?" "came out of a drunken experimental session" with regular collaborators Ludvig Söderberg and Jakob Jerlström. After they created a track, the Swedish songstress penned lyrics about a guilty hookup with someone else's lover.
  • Tove Lo has long wanted to work with a Brazilian artist because Brazil has a special place in her heart. Brazilian artist and rapper MC Zaac was someone several people recommended, and after listening to his music she felt that his voice would be perfect for this song. He laid down a verse in Portuguese, which proved to be a tricky recording as neither he nor any of his team any speak English. Tove Lo recalled they "ended up finding someone to translate a very interesting session on FaceTime."
  • Brazilian duo Alaska Filmes directed the video, which was shot on location in São Paulo. It features an explosive sexual escapade in a quaint restaurant, narrated by Tove Lo and MC Zaac.
