Songfacts®:

  • While the song takes its name from '90s drama series Dawson's Creek, Dolla $ign and Jeremih sing mostly about their women and luxury car collection. Ty explained to Genius he had to the title alter to avoid a lawsuit.

"We found the melody and that's the best part of the whole song to me is the melody," he said. "And 'Dawsin's Breek' of course, because I said 'Ice on creek like I'm Dawson,' but you can't call it 'Dawson's Creek.' because f---ing, I would've probably got sued or some s--t."
  • Mike WiLL Made-It's uptempo production is led by an unremitting drum machine. Dolla Sign described the track to Rolling Stone as "some Terrence Trent D'Arby, off-the-wall s--t."
