Songfacts®:

  • Ty told Artist Direct the background of this Wiz Khalifa and DJ Mustard featuring song. "That was a blessing right there," he said. "We were actually doing that for Wiz Khalifa's album. The same day, we did another song called 'That's Right.' He picked 'That's Right' for his album. I was like, "Let me get 'Or Nah'." He said, 'Cool, do it!' At first, he had his verses and I was only on the hook. I added my second verse. My homie brought the violins to make it match up with the rest of Beach House."
  • The song's music video was directed by Ryan Patrick (Tesla Boy's "Fantasy"). The eerie clip finds Ty Dolla $ign pursuing a mysterious beautiful woman. The visual also features cameos from Wiz Khalifa and the Weeknd.
  • This song mainstreamed the slang term "or nah," which is added to the end of a sentence as a way of saying "or not" - but in a cooler more dismissive way. The phrase often follows the clicking sound of a tongue.
