  • The inspiration for this song was Patrick McGoohan. Although never an A List star, his body of work included work in and on the American TV series Columbo, for which he won two Emmy Awards.

    Early on in his career he also appeared in live theatre. McGoohan was a Cosmopolitan figure: born in New York of Irish parents in 1928, and raised in both Ireland and England, he was in many ways like Noël Coward the quintessential Englishman. He died in Los Angeles in January 2009.
