  • Where did you go when things went wrong baby?
    Who did you run to
And find a shoulder to lay your head upon?
    Baby wasn't I there?
Didn't I take good care of ou?
No no, I can't believe you're leaving me
    Stay with me baby
    Please, stay with me baby
    Ooh, stay with me baby
    I can't go on
Who did you touch when you needed tenderness?

    I gave you so much
And in return I found happiness
    Baby what did I do
Maybe, maybe I was too good, too good to you
No no, I can't believe you're leaving me
    Stay with me baby
    Ooh, stay with me baby
Ooh, please stay with me baby
Remember you said you'd always gonna need me

Remember you said you'd never ever leave me
Remember, remember, I'm asking you, begging you, ooh, ooh
    Stay with me baby,
Please please stay with me baby
    Stay with me baby
    I can't go on
    Ooh stay with me baby
I'm begging you, stay with me baby
Stay, stay, stay with me baby... Writer/s: PEGGY LEE, QUINCY D JONES

  • Jon from Long Island, NyI first heard this song by Bette Midler in "The Rose", and I loved it. But that was 10 years before I heard Ms. Ellison's EXPLOSIVE version from 14 years before. It's a wonder that this woman didn't achieve the fame her talents indicate she should have (file her along with Linda Jones), but such is the record business. More people need to hear this volcanic performance.
  • Sam from Sherman OaksWow! I can't believe nobody has commented on this record yet. It's Unbelievably Amazing. her voice is so powerful that I was completely blown away the first time I discovered this record. It's a shame this completely missed the Top 40, and since it only made it up to No. 64, it's completely ignored by most Oldies radio stations today. which is a shame because it's such an incredible song. I didn't even hear this song until a few months ago when I was scrolling through Songfacts articles on songs that were released in the year 1966. that's how I originally came across this record. I"m really surprised that this record didn't even make it into the Top 40. the chorus is so explosive and powerful that it easily could have been a much bigger hit and money maker for it's writers (Jerry Ragovoy and George David Weiss). I really hope this record gets more Airplay on most Oldies Radio stations because this phenomenal song needs to be heard more by the people who grew on this type of music, but never got the chance to hear it because of it's unfortunate chart position. I rest my case.
