  • It's only water
    In a stranger's tear
    Looks are deceptive
    But distinctions are clear
    A foreign body
    And a foreign mind
    Never welcome
In the land of the blind
You may look like we do
    Talk like we do
But you know how it is

    You're not one of us
    Not one of us
No you're not one of us
    Not one of us
    Not one of us
No you're not one of us

    There's safety in numbers
    When you learn to divide
    How can we be in
    If there is no outside
    All shades of opinion
    Feed an open mind
    But your values are twisted
    Let us help you unwind
You may look like we do
    Talk like we do
-But you know how it is

    You're not one of us
    Not one of us
No you're not one of us Writer/s: PETER GABRIEL

  • James from Glendale, AzI always felt this song would have been perfect on the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers because of the title and theme. The lyrics "You can look like we do, talk like we do, but you know how it is. You're Not One of Us!" always brought the Pod People to mind for me.
  • Amy from Toronto, OnThis song was recently covered by Stephin Merritt of The Magnetic Fields for Peter Gabriel's Scratch My Back/I'll Scratch Yours project. It appears as a B-side to "Book of Love" on 45s specially released for independent record stores.
  • Tarrah from Liverpool, EnglandI have never heard of this song, but I felt bad for Joe. So yeah and I am pretty much bored. so bye.
  • Joe from Allston, MaOne of my favorite songs on (3) aka Melting Face. I remember being a young hick kid visiting my friend at his fancy art high school outside of Boston and this was the album everyone was listening to. This song summed up the experience I had during that visit.
